PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
I am delighted to welcome you to Subrahmanyam Ananthalakshmi College of Nursing, Rajamahendravaram, an institution dedicated to nurturing compassionate, competent, and professional nurses who serve society with excellence.
As the Principal, I, Dr. P. Sumalatha, Ph.D, bring with me years of academic and clinical expertise in nursing, with active membership in the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI). My professional journey has allowed me to serve in diverse roles including Executive Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, Clinical Instructor, Tutor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing, and presently as Principal.
My research and academic contributions reflect my deep commitment to advancing nursing practice. I have undertaken projects on:
- Assessing knowledge on environmental sanitation among rural and urban areas at visakapatnam ( community based project)
- Infant rearing practices among anti-natal mothers and post-natal mothers
- Optimizing episiotomy healing through targeted interventions and the voices of postnatal mothers – a blended research approach.
I have actively participated in national workshops such as Nurse-Manager as an Empowering Agent, Research Methodology on Quantitative and Qualitative Designs, and presented papers on critical issues including Differences between Midline and Medio-lateral Episiotomy at professional conferences. My scholarly work includes a publication in the International Research Journal of Education and Technology titled “Healing in the Shadows: Unveiling the Risk Factors Associated with Episiotomy Recovery.”
Alongside academic leadership, I have enriched my professional skills through international training such as Berkley Health Education. These experiences continue to guide my mission of preparing future nurses with a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, clinical expertise, leadership, and compassionate care.
